'In Memoriam'

Tennyson really got it right when he wrote ‘In Memoriam’

He realised that death is never over, it is forever and ever and therefore sadness is forever and ever

‘In Memoriam’ seems to go on forever and ever

it’s so long because as long as he was writing it, he was coping, and he wanted to cope for a long time, all his life in fact, until death consumed him too, and he didn’t have to cry anymore
